Triggers — Remplace behavior-based proactive triggers for Shopify
A trigger is a behavioral signal that tells Remplace to open the agent bar with a message specific to what the visitor is doing. Unlike passive chat widgets that wait, Remplace monitors 12 behavioral signals in real time and responds to each with a targeted message.
The 12 triggers
Checkout return: Visitor went to checkout and came back. Remplace detects the checkout step they abandoned (address, shipping, or payment), reads the cart snapshot, and requests a discount automatically. Uses Shopify Admin GraphQL to get the exact shipping cost the visitor saw. Highest-converting trigger at 17% engagement rate.
Variant hesitation: Visitor selected a variant (size, color, material) but did not add to cart after 8 seconds. Remplace asks if they need help deciding.
Comparison shopping: Visitor spent 25+ seconds on Product A, 25+ seconds on Product B, then returned to Product A. Remplace identifies both products and opens with a comparison message.
Same product return: Visitor came back to a product page they visited in a previous session. Remplace acknowledges the return and asks what stopped them.
Tab return: Visitor switched to another browser tab for 30+ seconds then came back. Remplace gently re-engages.
Search with no click: Visitor used the store's search, got results, and did not click any. Remplace asks what they were looking for.
Inactivity: Visitor has been on the page for 60+ seconds without adding to cart or navigating. Remplace offers help.
Hesitation: Time-based trigger on product pages. Fires after configurable inactivity threshold (14-60 seconds depending on trigger mode).
Greeting: First-time visitor. Remplace greets after a 4-second delay.
Return visit: Multi-session visitor who has been greeted before. Remplace acknowledges they are back.
Cart add: Visitor just added a product to cart. Remplace can suggest complementary products or confirm the choice.
Product page passive opener: Fallback opener for product pages when no other trigger fires.
Trigger modes
Balanced (default): all 12 triggers active with standard thresholds. Subtle: hesitation trigger disabled, for stores that prefer less interruption. Aggressive: all triggers active with faster timers (hesitation 14s, inactivity 35s).
Language support
All trigger messages are localized in 20 languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Arabic, Turkish, Russian, Ukrainian, Romanian. Language is detected automatically from the visitor's browser and conversation.
